Why buy a Vastex D100 & D1000?Vastex D100 & D1000 Infra red tunnel dryer

Sometimes, the only infra red tunnel dryer a screen printer needs is very small one.

The Vastex D100 and D1000 conveyor dryers are probably the smallest units available, yet small dimensions do not mean huge compromises in efficiency.

The D100 has a belt width of 42cm and the D1000 has a belt width of 66cm. The heater chamber is fixed to the conveyor and unlike other Vastex dryers, cannot be moved to allow differing lengths of in and out feed.

The two units will cure around 100 garments per hour thanks to a highly efficient infra red emitter that comes with a 15 year warranty.

Power is provided to both dryers using a standard 13 amp plug which means either model can be used almost anywhere.

The D100 and D1000 models are popular whenever space is very much at a premium, and where for example, outdoor events or exhibitions require the use of a small, low power tunnel dryer that could be run from a generator when mains power is unavailable.

As with all Vastex dryers, the D100 and D1000 have controls for temperature and belt speed, and the heating element can be raised, lowered or tilted according to the needs of the product that is being cured.

FAQ's

and answers for: D100 & D1000 infra red screen print dryersVastex DriBox Infra Red Tunnel Dryer

The D100 and D1000 compact range of tunnel dryers are very easy to use, but if you do have any questions, please review the enclosed or ask us if you need to know anything else.

We hope that this information will help you to decide if the D series range of infra red screen print dryers are the perfect machines for your t-shirt printing business.

Click on a question below to reveal the answer:

  • What is an infra red screen print dryer?

T-shirts and other clothing that is printed with an ink called Plastisol, which is the most widely used by screen printers, must be heated to a specific temperature after printing and kept at that temperature until it is fully plasticised. The best type of equipment to use for this application is referred to as an infra red screen print dryer. Other common names include tunnel dryers, t-shirt drying ovens or simply infra red conveyor dryers.

  • Why do I need a D100 or D1000 tunnel dryer?

Plastisol ink must be heated to 160° Celsius and held at this temperature until the ink has plasticised all the way down to the garment. Unless this requirement is met, the printed image may crack, fade and eventually come away from the printed garment. Plastisol can only be fully cured using infra red heat and a conveyor dryer is the most efficient and accurate way to achieve this.

  • How controllable are the D series tunnel dryers?

As with most infra red screen print dryers, the control panel of a D100 and D1000 units are not digitally set to an exact temperature, but if you want this level of sophistication, please do review the EconoRed range that we offer. The temperature and belt speed can be adjusted and set according to the job you need to cure and the infra red heating element can also be raised and lowered from the garment or even tilted at an angle when items such as caps are being cured. You should always check the temperature inside the tunnel chamber using paper temperature strips or an electronic measuring device to make sure you run the dryer at the correct setting.

  • Are the D100 & D1000 t-shirt drying ovens upgradeable?

The D series dryers cannot be upgraded. If you need a dryer with this future capability, please select from any of the remaining Vastex range instead.

  • Do I need special power requirements?

When supplied with one heating chamber, the D series range can be run from a standard single phase 13 amp supply as found in most homes and businesses.

  • Are D series t-shirt drying ovens table top or free standing?

They can be either. An optional stand is available which allows the dryer to be moved easily and quickly. They are not however, available with legs like all other Vastex dryers.

  • Do I need to worry about fumes when curing products?

Plastisol ink cures at 160° Celsius so there will be a degree of fumes produced from the dyes used in the shirts (and not the ink) during the curing cycle. The D100 and D1000 are not fitted with exhaust systems so you will have to remove any fumes indirectly if necessary, or work in a ventilated area should this become an issue.

  • Are the D series conveyor dryers easy to use?

Once you have set the correct temperature, element height and belt speed, the dryer continues without any further intervention. All you have to do is remember to switch it off when you have finished!

  • Are D series t-shirt drying ovens reliable?

Absolutely. In fact Vastex are so convinced of the reliability of this range of products that we offer an industry leading 3 year warranty on the main components of the dryer (belt excluded) and 15 years on the heating element!

  • Can I install a D series infra red screen print dryer at my home based business?

Yes. The D100 and D1000 range is supplied as a self assembly unit. The conveyor section of the D1000 is supplied assembled, whilst the D1000 is supplied in two halves that are bolted together. The heating unit must be assembled and fitted to the conveyor section. Atfer this, most of the assembly work is then complete. It takes less then 60 minutes to assemble a standard D series unit.

A standard width doorway of 75cm will allow all components to fit through prior to assembly and it is easy to fit back through the same size doorway afterwards by simply lifting the heating chamber off the base. The smaller D100 will fit through a standard doorway fully assembled.

The D100 is our entry level solution to curing Plastisol based inks. With a belt width of 46cm, and a heater that is rated at only 1,625 watts, this compact dryer is very cost effective to run and yet capable of producing in excess of 100 shirts per hour when required to do so.

The D1000 is a larger model of D100 and has a belt width of 66cm with a 2,050 watt infra red emitter.

The D100 & D1000 are available as tabletop dryers as standard with the option of a stand with light duty wheels. If you specifically require a dryer that has legs and heayvy duty castors, please look at the Dri-Box or Econored range of tunnel dryers instead.
